About Me
Hi! I'm Kalley Powell. I live in Houston, but am from Bloomington, Illinois (home of Beer Nuts (they should hire me to redo their website), Steak 'n' Shake, and State Farm (they are not my insurance carrier)). I studied painting and religious studies. I now build web applications, websites, the occasional app, and do lots of consulting work for my own company, KaPow Consulting. We also do training on a number of technologies, and I sometimes speak at meetups or what-have-you.
If you want me to work on some web stuff for you, besides going to my company website, here's a quick overview of my skills: I handcode HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP. I prefer to use HTML5 and am extremely familiar with CSS3, I have written custom jQuery plugins for clients. As far as databases, MySQL and I talk pretty regularly, and CouchDB and I have a fling here and there; MongoDB and I are just getting to know each other.
I'm writing new songs for what will hopefully become a new album, and, once I get an easel, I will resume painting after a far-too-long hiatus. I'll share paintings when I start making them.
